Default Big Bear

Lil and I made the trip to Big Bear Lake in Southern Ca. last weekend and it only took 7 hrs. Met up with a great bunch of folks from the So. Cal. chapter of ACBS, our hosts.

Fri. morning we put the Avalon in and I attempted to run across the lake and put it in our slip, but much to my surprise it just would not go over about 7 mph. Difference between Shaver at about 5000 and Big Bear at over 6000 is remarkable. Boat just would not run so that was the end of our touring plans in our boat. Guess I need to invest in a 91/2 X 11 prop. Would probably make my Shaver trips better as well. Friday afternoon we went over to Terry and Betty Rollers (Gotwaters') for a visit at their quaint mountain retreat/home. Took the grand tour and learned the history of this eclectic home which dates back to the 20's. Friday evening we elected not to attend the ACBS dinner and stayed at our hotel where we had some really wonderful food, Ahi for me and Southwestern Chicken for Lil both served as salads with wonderful dressings and greens.

Sat. morning the show began so like a car show everyone was busy wiping off the dew and making sure there were no water spots. Lots of great boats were present and almost as many fiberglass (Tupperware) boats as Woodies.

Hey Jack!

Woody boater posted some pictures of the event. You can follow the link HERE.

Although it wasn't a very good article, the pictures are definitely worth a look!
