Default Shasta shasta shasta

This was our third year and we LOVE Shasta. We left SD at 7 am on Sunday 6/11 after dropping off our dog Saylor at the Doggie Motel. Approaching Stockton Betty said I saw lighting ahead, and then there was a lot more with rain and hail. As we took the highway 12 off ramp the stop lights were blinking red and we saw that all the power was off for 5 miles including three truck stops and Denny's where we were planning on eating dinner. After setting in a heavy down pour for a half hour we headed to our motel. 7 am the next morning our Avalon was still draining. After a short stop at Walmart to replace wiener forks, the ones I laid on the side bunk at home didn't make the trip. We had a good laugh as our Avalon was still draining in the parking lot. You talk about Shasta being full. 1:30 we pulled into our beautiful camp site and set up enjoying the scenery. On Tuesday we drove up to Castle Craig's State Park to get ice and the firewood that we didn't need.
On Wednesday 36 miles, up the Mc Cloud arm, down to view Mt Shasta and lunch at Holiday Harbor. Thursday, 10 mile ice run to Holiday Harbor and site seeing. Friday 15 miles, visit with Jack and Lillie at our camp and then we cruised across the lake for a cove swim with Eduardo and Mercedes and Bob and Peggy. After cooling off we made a nice run up the Mc Cloud arm to the bridge. On Saturday Betty and I invited the newest member Dan and most of us met up at Holiday Harbor for lunch and then headed down for a view of Shasta and pass the dam to see the water fall. On our way back with Shasta in view we all enjoyed a nice swim in the middle of the lake. This was a 34 mile cruise followed by a potluck at Dan's camp site. Sunday morning we made an ice run with David and Nicole, followed by another run back to Holiday Harbor for lunch and then back up the Mc Cloud. Monday morning we headed back down to Lodi for the night and arriving home on Tuesday at 8 pm.
1642 Miles traveled
130 Miles in Avalon
7 Beautiful days in Shasta, looking forward to next year.

Great pictures Terry,
Shasta was a great experience this year even without a boat. It was great seeing everyone and watching them enjoy the full lake. Pot luck, once started was a fun event and your effort as Master of Ceremonies was greatly appreciated. Suggest that in the future it is known that the Pot Luck begins at 6:30pm or whatever other the group is happy with but it needs to be a time certain.

Default Best Dam Pictures

Took a drive to Shasta Dam on Sunday. We saw it from the water on Saturday. Lake was 94% full, 8.73 feet from the top (508 feet deep at the Dam).

Thanks, it is always fun cruising along with another Classic Boat. We enjoyed your company and it is always fun to exchange stories about what we enjoy doing. Can't wait to go again next year. We really enjoyed our time at Shasta and meeting up again with old friends and meeting new. It's nice to be with people who share a common hobby of boating and camping. It is good to see families having fun. Hope to see you next year on the Delta and at Shasta.
