Default Time to get ready

The trip time is less than two weeks away. I'm making a list and checking it twice. LOL. Gotta get the Sunliner uncovered and start making it ready.

Yah Jerry as we get older it takes us longer to get ready. What I used to do in two days now takes me two weeks. And the list is a good idea as two weeks is a long time to remember what it is we need to do.

Default Latest Update

Well, for a while it looked like the weather was going to impact our weekend, but thankfully the weather looks like it will not be a factor.

Here is a tentative schedule for the weekend.

Some will be arriving on Friday. Depending on who and when, maybe time for a short cruise.

SATURDAY:
Plans are to leave Tower Park between 10-10:30 AM. Plans are to cruise to a lunch destination, then cruise to a possible dessert spot (Walnut Grove?). Should be back to Tower Park by 4 pm.

SATURDAY POT LUCK
Note: For those arriving on Saturday, and needing “someplace” to plug in your “Potluck Dish” or refrigerate your food Cabin kitchens should be available. Just let us know
Cocktail hour or two after we get back from boating.
We will shoot for dinner at 6:00

LOCATION: TBD (we will pick a central location)
Bring your chairs, dish to share, drinks, and stories.
Plates, silverware, and napkins will be supplied.

When we get back from boating we can just hang out and visit before dinner. We are bringing chips and dip as well as cheese and crackers.
Feel free to bring along a munchie if you want.

SUNDAY MORNING breakfast run to Wimpys. Time TBD

Also as an FYI! This is called Zombie weekend at Tower Park. There are a BUNCH of activities geared toward children. So, I'm thinking there will be lots going on around the campgrounds.

Here is a link to a list of activities.

On Friday, if the weather is agreeable, it would be cool to do a short twilight cruise before the sun goes down (around 6:20 the sun is down).

Default Saturday's Delta Cruise and Lunch Run

Joel had asked me for some ideas on a possible lunch run and cruise for Saturday, October 21st during the Tower Park gathering this weekend. This is what I came up with.

This will be approximately a 36 miles cruise for brunch/lunch and ice cream stop. Some of will show up for the day on Saturday. Let us all meet up at Tower Park around 10:00, be ready to cruise on out at 10:30. From Tower, we will cruise west on South Mokelumne for 5 miles or so and then head north on North Mokelume around 10 miles to Snodgrass Slough. We will stop at the popular Delta restaurant called Giusti’s Place for brunch/lunch. There is a dock open to the public for restaurant access where we will tie up our old boats. Online states that the American-Italian meals & cocktails are the draw at this waterfront institution with eclectic décor. This is a very popular restaurant in the Delta.

Giusti's Place

After lunch we will continue north and east on Snodgrass Slough cruising by and around Walnut Grove Marina until we make our way to Delta Cross Channel towards the Sacramento River, 4 miles. I called and confirmed that the gate will be open this weekend, closed during the week, to access the Sacramento River. From there just a short and slow cruise to the Walnut Grove Public Dock for an Ice Cream stop at our favorite Mel’s Mocha Café.

After our stop for ice cream, we will make our way south under the green Walnut Grove bridge to Georgiana Slough on the left. Heading south for 12 miles on Georgiana will be a much better cruise compared to this year’s 2nd Day on the Delta in April when the water level was high and the current was really fast. It took us a long while to travel 12 miles with around 3 miles of no wake zone north against the current. At least with us going down current, it will make for a smoother, less wake, cruise I think.

After Georgiana, we are back on South Mokelumne and 5 mile cruise east to Tower Park marina.

If we have time, we could even travel around Bouldin Island continuing south on South Mokelumne to the big river San Joaquin, and east on Little Potato Slough. This slough will take us back to Tower. This route will add another 6-7 miles.

Default You're welcome Joel...

...glad to help.

If any of you plan on joining us on Saturday for the Delta cruise and lunch run to Giusti's Place, just a reminder that the restaurant only accepts cash.

Looking forward to spending the day with GSG on Saturday.

Eduardo thank you for planning the cruise, for our part the longer version would be preferred if at all possible. Long drives are worth the effort if boating is the focus.
Thanks again, looking forward to seeing everyone.
